Genesis 26
1 and it is becoming famine in land
from aside of the former famine, which was in days of Abraham; and Isaac is
going Abimelech, king of Philistines, Gerar ward. 2 and Yahweh is appearing to
him, and is saying: must not be you are going down Egypt ward; tabernacle in
land which I am saying to you! 3 sojourn in this land and I shall become with
you and bless you, that to you and to your seed I shall give all these lands
and I carry out the oath which I swore to Abraham, your father. 4 and I increase
your seed as stars of the heavens and give to your seed all these lands, and all
nations of the earth bless themselves in your seed. 5 inasmuch which Abraham
listened in my voice and keeping my charge, instructions, statutes and laws. 6
and Isaac is dwelling in Gerar. 7 and mortals of the place are asking to his
woman; and he is saying: she my sister; that he feared to say: my woman; lest
mortals of the place are killing me on Rebecca, that she good of appearance. 8
and it is becoming, that the days there were long to him; and Abimelech, king
of Philistines, is gazing through the window and is seeing, and behold: Isaac
making fun with Rebecca, his woman! 9 and Abimelech is calling to Isaac and is
saying: yea, behold, she your woman! And how you said: she my sister? And Isaac
is saying: that I said, lest I am dying on her. 10 and Abimelech is saying:
what this you did to us? As little one of the people lay down with your woman;
and you brought guilt on us. 11 and Abimelech is instructing all the people to
say: the one touching in this man and in his woman be put to death, shall be
put to death. 12 and Isaac is sowing in land the she and is finding in year the
she hundred barleys; and Yahweh is blessing him. 13 and the man is growing
great, and is going on to go and growing great until that he was exceedingly
great. 14 and flock is becoming to him, and acquisition of herd, and many
servant; and Philistines are being jealous him. 15 and Philistines stopped up
all the wells which servants of his father in days of Abraham delved, and are
filling them soil. 16 and Abimelech is saying to Isaac: go from with us! That
you are exceedingly staunch from us. 17 and Isaac is going from there and is
camping in watercourse of Gerar, and is dwelling there. 18 and Isaac is
returning; and is delving wells of waters, which they delved in days of
Abraham, his father; and Philistines are stopping them up after death of
Abraham; and is calling to them names as names which his father called to them.
19 and servants of Isaac are delving in watercourse and are finding well of
living waters there. 20 and shepherds of Gerar are contending with ones being
shepherds of Isaac, to say: to us the waters; and he is calling name of the
well Esek; that they showed themselves extortionate
with him. 21 and they are delving another well; and they are contending
moreover over her; and he is calling her name Sitnah.
22 and he is shifting from there, and is delving another well; and they
contended over her; and he is calling her name Rehoboth; and is saying, that
now Yahweh widens for us, and we are fruitful in land. 23 and he is going up
from there Beer~Sheba. 24 and Yahweh is appearing to him in night the he, and
is saying: I Elohim of Abraham, your father; must not be you are fearing, that
I with you, and I bless you, and I increase your seed in sake Abraham, my
servant. 25 and he is building there altar; and is calling in name of Yahweh,
and stretching out there his tent; and servants of Isaac are digging there
well. 26 and Abimelech went to him from Gerar; and Ahuzzath,
his associate; and Phicol, chief of his host. 27 and
Isaac is saying to them: for what reason you come to me, and you hate me, and
you are sending me away from with you. 28 and they are saying: to see we see, that
Yahweh became with you; and we are saying: imprecation shall become, please,
between us; between us and between you; and we shall cut covenant with you. 29
should not be you are doing with us evil as which not we touched you and as
which we did but good with you, and we are sending away you in peace; you now
being blessed of Yahweh. 30 and he is making feast for them, and they are
eating and drinking. 31 and they are rising early in morning, and swearing man
to his brother; and Isaac is sending them away, and they are going from with
him in peace. 32 and he is becoming in day the he, and servants of Isaac are
coming and telling to him on cases of the well they delved; and are saying to
him: we found waters. 33 and he is calling her Sheba; on so name of the city:
Beer~Sheba until this day.
34 and Esau is being son of
forty years and is taking woman: Judith, daughter of Beeri,
the Hittite; and Bashemath, daughter of Elon, the
Hittite. 35 and they are becoming bitterness of spirit to Isaac and to Rebecca.
